Just days before her boyfriend was to appear in court for alleged domestic abuse, a South Philadelphia woman suddenly disappeared.
Her family is worried, and police are asking for the public's help.
"If she didn't call, it's because she's not able to," said the woman's mother, Gail Daniels.
Her 26-year-old daughter, Taneke Daniels, was last reported seen May 12 leaving her boyfriend's house in West Philadelphia.
On May 23, the boyfriend was scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing. Daniels was allegedly a victim of domestic abuse.
When Daniels did not show for the hearing, it was postponed.
The boyfriend has been cooperating in the investigation into her disappearance, and is not currently a suspect, said Detective Mike Fuss.
Daniels, of 26th Street near Moore, had spent the night with the boyfriend, on 63rd Street near Girard. About 6 a.m., she called her sister - whom she lives with - to say she was coming home. She never arrived.
The boyfriend said he last saw Daniels as she left his house.
Gail Daniels said her daughter is very good about keeping in touch with family members - calling her sister was a good example of that.
"That's why I think something's happened to her," Daniels said. "I would almost bet my life on it."
Taneke Daniels has three boys, ranging in age from 10 to 2.
Police have been searching for the woman, including checking women's shelters, but there's been no trace of her.
